Continue Whitsunday @ Whitsundays

Celebrating another great day...
Ragamuffin at anchor off Whitehaven Beach...

An alternative to sailing in...

All in blue on Whitehaven beach...

Sails...

Whitsunday at the Whitsundays

Surfing back on a Beam reach all the way - couldn't take shots going out to Whitehaven beach as we were flying on 25knot winds - fantastic!
Yes, someone has manage to dig there way from England. The sand is white and squeaky...

One third of Whitehaven beach...

Another third...

Elijah the Cockatoo dropped in to say hello and eat pumpkin seeds.

Saturday Afternoon Trip to Dingo Beach

Looking from Dingo Beach across to Pelican Island...
Kicking up red dust on a gravel road...

Banana Creek...

We bought a dozen from this 'honesty' shop; also some lemon and limes. They had a basket of freshly picked lemongrass and lemon myrtle leaves free of charge; I took some and made a tea with the myrtle leaves ( anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and calmative properties so listen in any arthritis sufferers!) The tea is delicious, just steep leaves for five mins in hot water...
Another retail sign that made me smile!

Saturday Morning Market Airlie Beach

We couldn't resist this little guy - it's a bamboo windchime with a jointed and weighted bird on top that also moves with the wind...
Something for the kids - camel rides on the beach...

Sarongs in the breeze...

These huge flowers were five dollars for ten - that's £2.50...

The sign in front of this ballerina (?) read : 'Put money in box to make me dance'. I guess she's still standing there.

Sundowner - Friday Evening Airlie Beach 28th May

Watching the sun go down with a beer...
Ditto...

SAme as above - what a wonderful way to end the day! Hope you all have a good weekend.

Vegging out - Friday Airlie Beach

Interesting tattoo...
Lunch - Barramundi and chips, cooked beautifully too...

Going for a thong...

Some gulls napping, some strolling at the waters edge...

Same old same old...

Two lads strumming and singing on the beach...

Relaxing in the shade of a palm on the beach...

Down on Airlie beach just watching boats on the water...

Greg relaxing with his coffee...

Sun up and more clouds!

Thursday morning Airlie Beach

Looking from Airlie Beach out towards the islands...
Looking down on Airlie Beach Marina from our vantage point...

Greg & Jack sharing a pot of coffee.

Post Sailing Wednesday Evening Airlie Beach

We made friends with Jack & Stacy this week; they're from Charleston South Carolina. Hope you had a good trip home!
A cocktail fit for a Mermaid ;O) We spent Wednesday evening at Airlie Beach Yacht Club. Great balcony to view the sunset, friendly bar and fabulous buffet dinner for $16 - best of all - no pretentious dress code! They have twilight racing on Wednesdays so the place was packed. They also ran a meat tray raffle (prizes are trays of good meat) in aid of a young boatbuilder here who is in trouble because some 'clown' drove up onto the walkway last week and smashed into him. Good community spirit prevails, already they have collected $9,000 to help him out.

Sailing to Blue Pearl Island Whitsundays - Wednesday

Bow dipping and spraying, yeehah...
Here we are picking up 12 knots and starting to fly...

This mainsail is 60' tall. An amazing sight full of wind...

Sand bar on the reef...
A small islet on the reef...

Just love sun on water...

Another option...slow and steady. Not our choice ;O)

Impossible to get all the mast into the frame at once - it's a long way up there...

I smiled all day long today...

A cat anchored off Hayman Island...

Greg and another winching up the foresail...

They start em young on the helm out here...

The day started overcast, but soon improved...

The rubber duck bouncing along behind...

This is Ragamuffin, a Maxi 75' ocean racing yacht. She was known as 'Bumblebee' when she won the Sydney to Hobart race on three occasions. We're sailing her again on Sunday...woohoo :O)
